Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

One of New York's most magical events is happening right now. The magic of the 86th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Many of you guys out there are watching the live performance of the parade at home or on the streets of New York City enjoying the action. So I know this is a fashion blog but this is a special post, today I'm going to be taking you back, to the history and behind the scenes of the parade.
In the 1920's Macy's was enlarged to a block long. The president of Macy's wanted to celebrated so he promised the city a parade. The first the parade was only two blocks long, but they took many turns. The parade started as a tradition in 1924. The employees of Macy's started at 145th Harlem to 34th Street where Macy's was located. Every year the parade route is different. The parade got so big that, there was a live broadcast go television. Many celebrities sang performed on the floats. Featured performers this year may include McKayla Maroney, Aly Raiman, Gabby Douglas, Kayla Ross, Jordyn Wieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cody Simpson, Trace Adkins, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Isaac, Karmin, Christian Laettner, Sandra Lee, Mannheim Streamroller, Jennette McCurdy, Flo Rida, Don McLean, Megan and Liz, Olivia Culpo, the cast of Sesame Street, Kareen Abdul-Jabbar,  Neon Trees, the cast of Power Rangers Megaforce, and Whoopi Goldberg.

On thing you probably didn't know is that all the floats in the parade take about one year to build, so after the parade this year they start to build the new floats for next year. Also they reuses some of the balloons. They parade studio is in Hoboken, New Jersey all the floated and balloons are build there. On Thanksgiving Day over 3.5 million people come to New York. Many floats and balloons featured in the parade every year are Dora, Charlie Brown, the cast of Sesame Street, Spider Man, Sponge Bob and who can forget Santa Claus. Santa starts the holiday seasons.
If you're not watching the parade right now you still have until 12 o'clock pm.  I wish everyone has a great Thanksgiving, enjoying Black Friday shopping tomorrow!
